    Outreach services

     

    1. Library Card Service

    After registration, you may apply to be our reader at http://li.csu.edu.tw/. Once your application is approved, you may borrow books with your student ID card. Alumni and common residents may apply for a library card with an effective ID card or a driving license at our library circulation desk.


    2. Library Collections

    The library houses over 473,256 volumes/tapes/piece, 299,780 Chinese and foreign periodical titles and 26,380 items of non-book materials, including CD-ROMs、VCD、DVD、videotapes、e-books… etc., 13 kinds of newspapers, and about 32 databases.

    3.Book check-out rules and services:

    。Overdue material will be charged NT$2 per item per day.

    4. Inter-library loan service

    ※※Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS)※※

    1.Purpose:
    Interlibrary cooperation service is provided to enable resource sharing and provide additional collection. The library of Cheng Shiu University has become a member of the Interlibrary Cooperation Association, Library Association for Domestic Vocational and Technological Colleges and Universities, Kaohsiung Alliance of University Libraries and the Southern Alliance of Vocational and Technological Colleges and Universities to support readers applying for materials held by other organizations.

    2. Eligible Users: Faculty, staff and students of Cheng Shiu University

    3. Procedure:

    (1). Services:
    Photocopying of domestic research papers
    Loan of books held in domestic libraries
    Photocopying of foreign research papers 

    (2). Application Procedures:
    (a) Borrowing Interlibrary Card
    (a-1). An identity card shall be presented when borrowing an interlibrary card to borrow books from a member library. Please make sure that all books are returned and overdue fines paid 

    before returning the interlibrary card. Rules of a member library must be followed. Renewal and reservation services are not available.

    (a-2). Member libraries are listed below:

    ※Libraries of domestic vocational and technological colleges and universities (temporarily unavailable)
    ※Libraries of universities in Kaohsiung
    ※Libraries of domestic vocational and technological colleges and universities in Southern Taiwan
    ※Libraries of other universities: National Cheng Kung University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Kaohsiung Normal University, and National Pingtung University.

    (b) Online Application for Paper Copy or Book Loan
    Please make sure that our library and electronic resource integration system do not have the material you need before applying for the delivery service.
    Please refer to the NDDS User Guide for online interlibrary cooperation.
    Connect to the NDDS system. A new reader shall submit an application to obtain an account in the Reader Section. It takes approximately 2 working days for the system to automatically send a verification email.
    A reader with an account shall log into the system and select “Apply” to request a copy of research paper or books that he/she is looking for.
    Confirm the library which will receive the request.
    Journal: Search the material that you are looking for in the Union List of Serials.
    Book: Search the book that you are looking for in the National Bibliographic Information Network, National Taiwan University Library’s MetaCAT+, or search the online catalog of any member library.
    Thesis and Dissertation: Search the material that you are looking for in the National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan.
    The system will send a notification email to the applicant to pick up the item when it arrives.

    (3). NDDS Fee (The following information is for reference only. Service fee is charged based on standards specified in the interlibrary system.)
    【NDDS Discount for Vocational and Technological Colleges and Universities】
    【Domestic】: The fee is charged based on the library which receives an application. If an application is rejected, no cost is incurred. Please refer to the List of Library Service Fees.
    Copying: NT$3 per A4/B4 page with a service fee of NT$20.
    Book Loan: NT$100 per book; NT$5 per day after the due date for handling cost. The postmark date is deemed the date of return.
    Ariel: NT$5 per page sent via the Internet.
    【Foreign】: NT$350 for every 10 pages copied by the Science and Technology Information Center.
    Note: All prices are subject to change based on standards and exchange rate fluctuation of each library.

    (4). Reply:
    It takes approximately 3 – 5 days/1 – 2 weeks for a library to process the application and deliver the requested item. A notification email will be sent to the applicant when the item arrives. The applicant can pick up the item and pay the fee at the front desk on Floor 1.

    ※※Interlibrary Loan Service for Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung and Pingtung※※

    1. Eligible Users: Faculty, staff and students of Cheng Shiu University

    2. Process: Please use the loan service system to check the library which owns the book you are looking for, and make an application. A notification email will be sent if the book arrives. The applicant should present his/her Student Card or any valid identity card to check out the book at the front desk on Floor 1.

    3. Privilege: A maximum of 5 books can be borrowed for 14 days.

    4. Fine Rules: Fines vary from library to library.

    7. Fee: The association currently pays the cost. It is free of charge during the promotion period. An announcement will be made if readers need to pay the charge in the future. Faculty and students are welcome to use the service as much as they can during the promotion period.
